The international scientific week "Sustainable development and green economy" continues.

On May 22, 2024, a conference session was organized at the Institute of Materials Science of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of the 3rd international conference "Innovative technologies for the production of glass, ceramics and bonding materials". The Institute of Materials Science was established in 1993 in order to activate research on the interaction of concentrated solar radiation with substances and to create new advanced materials that work in extreme conditions based on local raw materials.

Foreign participants of the conference and representatives of the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology visited a unique scientific facility - the Big Solar Furnace (KFK) with a capacity of 1000 kW located in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region. This unique solar furnace is a complex optical-mechanical complex with an automatic control system consisting of a heliostatic field and a paraboloid concentrator, which creates a stationary stream of high-density light in the focal zone of the concentrator (technological tower). The reflecting surface of the heliostat area is 3022.5 m2, the concentrator is 1840 m2. As a result, it is possible to synthesize new materials in extremely clean conditions at high temperatures of up to 3000 C.

The delegation of scientists from Korea, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, the Russian Federation, Poland and Uzbekistan was welcomed by the director of the Institute of Materials Science O. Parpiyev and introduced to the latest scientific developments in the field of high-performance technical ceramics production. Abrasion and heat resistance using solar furnace synthesis methods; samples of precious and semi-precious stones obtained synthetically as a result of high-temperature cooking were presented; got acquainted with the methods of obtaining polymer materials with metal oxide nano-additions and other developments of the scientists of the Institute of Materials Science.

Scientists from Korea, Belarus, the Russian Federation, and Poland expressed great interest in developing cooperation in the field of synthesis of high-purity, functional, high-temperature materials using the unique equipment and capabilities of the solar furnace.

Also, within the framework of the conference, more than 30 foreign guests visited "Parkent Palace of Creativity", "Kumushkon" recreation center and Hazrat Ali in order to get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, national traditions and customs, tourist attractions of our republic. visits to the complex were organized.
