The aim of the department: is to train specialists-biotechnologists (bachelors and masters), meeting the requirements of the labour market, having higher education, high professional qualification and skills. 

- Duties of the department:

- To conduct lecture, laboratory, practical and other types of training at a high theoretical, scientific, methodological and professional level in accordance with the state educational standards of higher education for all forms of education (in cases when it is isolated from production and not separated from production);

- Supervising students' qualification practice, course projects (works), final qualification works, master's theses, as well as independent work;

- Introduction of rating control of students' knowledge; holding events for students outside the classroom;

- Training of highly qualified personnel meeting high spiritual and moral requirements at the level of developed countries;

- Development of educational programmes in the subjects of the department and submission for approval in accordance with the established procedure, as well as preparation of reviews and opinions on educational programmes prepared by related departments;

- Preparation of textbooks, teaching and demonstration aids, as well as reprinting of textbooks, teaching aids and teaching literature, including those created in co-authorship with foreign scientists, by order of the rectorate of our higher educational institution; participation in preparation of necessary teaching and methodological literature on orders of non-governmental educational institutions;

- Work with gifted students, preparing them for participation in Olympiads and competitions, including "Ulugbek" and other competitions of the republican fund, improvement of forms and methods of independent training of students;

- Take measures to increase the volume of independent studies by improving classroom work;

- To carry out research work in accordance with the approved plan, to discuss completed research work and introduce their results into production, to recommend for publication completed scientific works; 

- Ensure effective integration of education, science and production; supervise students' research work;

- Consideration of educational, teaching, methodological and educational work of the department staff in personal plans;

- Study, generalisation and dissemination of work experience of experienced teachers, introduction of new pedagogical technologies; assistance to teachers who have started pedagogical activity in acquiring pedagogical skills;

- Creation of information base, use of modern educational and technical means and means of individual training and independent learning in the process of conducting training classes; development of distance education system; highlighting the experience of foreign educational institutions;

- Training of competitive and scientific-pedagogical staff; review of theses submitted for defence by members of the department or other scientific workers by order of the rector; participation in expert groups to establish the equivalence of educational documents;

- Establishing contacts with co-operatives, peasant, farmer and other farms in order to attract extra-budgetary funds, as well as to provide scientific and technical support in industrial and agricultural enterprises;

- Organisation of regular contacts with graduates of the higher educational institution and those who have completed post-graduate studies at this faculty;

- Carrying out activities to improve the qualification of specialists in the direction of the department; broad development of the system of educational services;

- Development of international relations with foreign partners, scientific and educational institutions.
