September 16 — International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

Every year, September 16 is widely celebrated around the world as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This date was introduced on the basis of the Vienna Convention adopted in 1985 and the Montreal Protocol signed on September 16, 1987, and is one of the most important environmental dates for humanity.

On this occasion, a round table discussion was organized at the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology under the slogan “From Science to Global Actions” at the initiative of the Shaykhontohur district party organization of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan and in cooperation with the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.

The event was actively attended by the First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Affairs of the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology B.N. Boborajabov, Head of the Department of Industrial Ecology F. Igitov, Professor of the Department Kh. Pulatov, Deputies of the Local Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan S. Rasulev, K. Khursanov, Deputy Chairman of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan S. Sanginov, Doctor of Cambridge University in the USA T. Yunusov, and students.

The speakers expressed their detailed views on the role of the ozone layer in human life, the negative impact of its eroding substances - chlorofluorocarbon compounds - on the environment, the problem of "ozone holes" and ways to eliminate it. The importance of the responsibility of young people and their active participation in combating global environmental problems was also emphasized.

At the end of the event, participants were given recommendations on protecting the ozone layer, ensuring environmental safety, and implementing scientific and practical measures for a sustainable future.
