As you know, in recent days, the sharp increase in atmospheric air pollution in Navoi city has negatively affected the health of the population and created uncomfortable breathing conditions, which has caused widespread discussion on social networks.
Currently, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan is conducting an on-site study of this situation.
The activities of a number of enterprises polluting the atmospheric air in Navoi region have been temporarily suspended. A Republican working group has been established to identify polluting sources, conduct a thorough analysis of their harmful emissions, and develop effective proposals.
This working group includes Kh.L. Pulatov, a professor at the Department of Industrial Ecology of the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, a representative of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, a member of the Council of People's Deputies of the Yashnobod district of Tashkent, Chairman of the Standing Commission on "Agrarian, Water Management and Ecological Issues", and F.B. Igitov, head of the Department of "Industrial Ecology".
At the initial stage of the study, the working group members got acquainted with the activities of “SOGDA CHEMICAL PLANT” LLC. The current environmental situation at the enterprise, the concentration of harmful and toxic gases emitted into the atmosphere are being studied and determined using modern equipment.
This plant produces sulfuric acid, potassium sulfate and calcium chloride products.
Based on the results of the study, appropriate measures are expected to be taken to eliminate the identified shortcomings and ensure environmental safety.
