A press conference was held at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan on the topic “Organization of admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic year at the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and work being carried out to train personnel in the engineering field”.
It was chaired by the rector of the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, Usmonov Botir Shukurillayevich, and attended by vice-rectors, heads of responsible departments and divisions. The press conference held at the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology for the 2025/2026 academic year covered the main news related to new reforms in higher education, changes in the admission procedure, international approaches to training personnel in engineering fields, practical education integrated with production, and student life. The press conference was also attended by media workers, including journalists and bloggers.
Quality of education and priority in the field of engineering
The institute has 4 faculties, 20 departments, 31 bachelor's and 30 master's programs, and more than 8,500 students are studying. The educational process is based on the credit-module system. 60% of 346 professors and teachers have academic degrees. There are 2 academic degree granting councils at the institute, and 50 dissertation defenses were held in 2025 alone.
Modern laboratories, information technology infrastructure, and "Spin-off" projects have been introduced for quality education. The harmony of science and practice has been established through the engineering school "Intelligent Chemical-Technological Systems".
The new procedure in the admission system, starting from
the 2025/2026 academic year:
- The state order will be allocated not by institute, but by educational field and rating;
- Correspondence studies will be canceled, and part-time, evening and distance education forms will be gradually expanded;
- Applicants will register on the basis of the “first test - then selection” principle;
- Admission to programs where a foreign language is the first subject is possible with a national or international certificate;
- The educational grant will be allocated for one year, and then distributed based on rating and activity.
This year, TKTI announced admission to 45 full-time, 20 evening, 5 distance learning bachelor's programs and 29 master's programs. An appropriate set of subjects has been determined for each program.
Digitalized management and Registrar's Office
The systems for managing educational processes, assessing, maintaining academic data, class schedules, subject programs, working with applications and appeals at the institute are fully digitalized. The Registrar's Office, which has been operating since 2022, provides more than 100 services to students online. This is of great importance in reducing bureaucratic barriers and ensuring transparency.
Integration of practical education with industry
The institute cooperates with more than 100 large enterprises and organizations. Branches of the department have been opened with "Uzbekistan GTL", "Uzkimyosanoat", "ARTEL", "Uzbekneftgaz", "Toshkentvino", "ASL OYNA" and other industry leaders.
Practical education for students is organized at 12 industrial enterprises. More than 100 employers participate in "Career Days" every year, and more than 500 graduates are offered jobs. Also, production practices are organized for students, which include three meals a day, a hostel and transportation.
International cooperation and academic mobility
TKTI cooperates with more than 100 universities and research centers in more than 40 countries. Joint programs, internships and scientific research are carried out with such prestigious partners as Yildiz (Turkey), Obuda (Hungary), Cantenbria (Spain), Tomsk Polytechnic (Russia), Shandong Academy of Sciences (China).
Within the framework of international grant programs such as Erasmus+, GIZ, ECAMPUS, STEM Master, foreign investments of about 1 million euros have been attracted to the institute. Currently, more than 30 foreign professors teach at the institute, more than 140 employees participate in foreign internships.
Student life, social support and encouragement
18 clubs operate at the institute based on 5 initiatives. More than 300 events have been organized in the fields of music, art, sports, IT, cybersports, reading and women's studies. Thousands of young people are active within the framework of "Qvz", "Young Musicians' Ensemble", "Student Theater" and other initiatives.
2.7 billion soums were allocated for social support in 2025. This included incentives for renters, students from privileged categories, winners of competitions and sports, and excellent students. Members of the "Shield" group, winners of the "Rector's Cup", active students in competitions such as "National Values" and "Education Square" received material rewards.
